RECREATING VINTAGE IMAGES . . .

Howdy All!

Well, the Legendary Leather Clan has recooperated from another

adventurous vending event at the 'Gunfight Behind the Jersey Lilly'

with The Cowboys in Norco. We met up with old friends and made

a few new ones to boot.

Mr. Legendary Leather was particularly excited about a new vendor

to this event. F/395 Photography specializes in tintypes and ambrotypes,

recreating the vintage look of 'photography' in the mid 1800's.

Mr. Legendary Leather and Sugar N. Spice had a great time posing

for their photo. The processs requires detailed timing . . . including

standing still for at least 15 seconds. This seemed like a life time

for Mr. Legendary Leather who couldn't stop swaying once the

words "don't move" were spoken. And yes, this photo is on metal.

Much thanks to Craig and his crew who were very friendly and

mighty accommodating to the Legendary Leather Clan!

PROFILE

A Graphic Designer by trade . . . a cowboy artisan at heart, Mr. Legenday Leather developed an interest in leather-crafting back in his Boy Scout days. Around the same time, he also acquired what would eventually develop into an overwhelming interest in knives. As he grew older, he unknowingly "married" his two interests together and would occassionally craft a knife sheath to satisfy the "leather craving" within, sometimes with years in between crafted projects.

In his 40's, Mr. Legendary Leather added rifle and pistol shooting to his hobbies, while his curiosities about the old west developed into a passion for more knowledge about the "cowboy". Once again, "marrying" his interests, he discovered the "Single Action Shooting Society" (SASS) which is an international organization that was created to preserve and promote the sport of cowboy action shooting. SASS members share a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West and competitive shooting; "Each participant is required to adopt a shooting alias appropriate to a character or profession of the late 19th century, a Hollywood western star, or an appropriate character from fiction. Their costume is then developed accordingly. Many event participants gain more enjoyment from the costuming aspect of the sport than from the shooting competition, itself." . . . the key word in this quote being "costuming" . . .

In his enthusiasm to develop the ultimate cowboy costume, Mr. Legendary Leather called upon all of his resources and interests, which encompassed everything that would be needed to satisfy yet another "calling". The variety in his leather-crafted projects is a testament to his growth in crafting the bovine hide. With each new creation, he carefully refines and hones his skills.

The imagination holds endless possibilities . . . and Mr. Legendary Leather eagerly seeks the "dusty old trail" he will travel to create every one of them!
